Delivering by bike, scooter or car: what's worth it
Updated · 2 min read
Your vehicle changes how many orders you do per hour, what a shift costs you and how tired you get home. There's no right choice for everyone, but there is a right one for you.
The numbers side by side
Bike
Good if you live near the centre and want to start with no investment. At 20 hours a week you keep ~450 lei net, at 30 hours ~630 lei, with no fuel to pay.
In Cluj the hillside neighbourhoods (Zorilor, Bună Ziua, upper Grigorescu) tire you fast. An e-bike changes the maths completely. In Iași, Copou and the climbs around it need the same thinking.
Scooter
For most couriers it's the best compromise: you get through traffic, park easily and fuel use is low. At 45 hours a week you keep ~1.125 lei net.
Check which licence category your scooter needs and that the insurance is valid.
Car
Per hour it's a bit more (~30 lei gross), but parking at restaurants and blocks costs you minutes and fuel eats into the difference. It pays off mostly in winter and rain, or if you deliver across wider areas at the edge of town.
